The St. Regis Bahia Beach holds a nature-reserve setting between El Yunque and the sea. - Mosquito Bay, Vieques — the brightest bioluminescent bay on Earth (Guinness-certified); go on a new moon, and stay over on Vieques rather than day-tripping.
- Culebra's Playa Flamenco gets the lists, but boat out to Culebrita's tidal pools instead.
- Cueva Ventana — a cave mouth framing the Río Grande de Arecibo valley like a postcard.
- Gozalandia Falls (San Sebastián) — swimmable double waterfalls with a rope swing, far from the El Yunque crowds.
- Coffee haciendas of Jayuya — the mountainous center of the island, where Puerto Rico's once-famous coffee is staging a comeback; several estates do tastings and stays.

US travelers who want zero entry friction (it's a domestic flight), serious eaters, golfers, and anyone splitting a trip between city energy and resort seclusion — Old San Juan to Dorado is under an hour. JetBlue/Delta/United run constant nonstops from all three NYC airports.
